Hands Across Philadelphia understands that our cities are changing, and so are the opportunities available to our young people. We Held several youth Community council meetings and listened to the needs and concerns of the youth during the pandemic. After the riots in Philadelphia the feedback gave us a new perspective In this rapidly evolving world. The need for innovative and forward-thinking programs has never been greater. We’re on a mission to bridge the gap, to give urban youth a strong foothold in the ever-shifting landscape of the job market. Our programs are not just about jobs; they’re about jobs of the future. We believe in providing our youth with the skills and knowledge they need to not only survive but thrive in the digital age. As we emerge into the 5th industrial revolution , technology continues to reshape industries, we all have to be committed to ensuring that no community gets left behind.
One of our standout initiatives, the Summer Remote Drone Pilot Program, showcases our dedication to innovative learning experiences. It’s about more than just flying drones; it’s about expanding horizons. Through this program, a select group of young individuals had the unique opportunity to control drones remotely in Adelaide, Australia, all while sitting in their classrooms in Philadelphia. This not only broadened their perspectives but also gave them the tools to be competitive in a world where technology knows no bounds. It’s just one example of how we’re helping our youth spread their wings and reach for the skies.
Nicole Ross, President of hands across Philadelphia and Co-convener of the World Summit on Women and Girls, is the driving force behind our local initiatives as a global advocate for equality.
